Jason Jones:

“ In these works I continue the exploration of two personally significant sites near my home in Central Victoria; the beautiful Kangaroo Hills and the stand of trees at the home of friend and poet, Michael Clarke, who’s passing in 2022 was felt by so many. ”

Brett Jones:

“ My paintings are about our relationship with all things and place. With no deliberate intention, they evolve on their own. The scars depicted in my landscapes are, to me, the collective scars on the psyche of all that stand on this land. “

This Way, Emancipation

Drawing from Shrujana’s extensive drawing and illustration practice, this exhibition represents the richness of the Dalit-Bahujan community's experience in India.

Shrujana’s window commission works expand the process of ascribing untold stories onto the surface of the building by depicting scenes of cultural heritage and lived experiences of Dalit-Bahujan tenderness, faith, resistance, glory and assertion of presence.

Monday - Friday 10AM - 4PM until the 24th November

This is a free event - Booking is not required.

GALLERY NOTES:

Two established artists with their own recognised practice combine their own extensive knowledge of materials and skill of application. Colour pallets, placement of form and decisions about the paints own materiality and movement are negotiated to bring this suite of paintings together, giving a sense of excitement, coming together and completeness.

ANNA PRIFTI

Living in the momentary beauty, being present and awake.

The potency of pigments, the siennas, cadmium oranges and the gold textures evoke feelings of glowing auras and joyful moments.

I had so much fun riding this wave with Andrea and look forward to many more

ANDREA HUGHES

With a natural curiosity for the creative process Andrea’s practice is multifaceted and includes painting, sculpture, installation and jewellery making. She is known for her joyful use of colour, layering of paint, building up surfaces often to a point where the two-dimensional becomes three dimensional.

References to place and home often appear in Andrea’s work through the use of shapes, form, light and shadow. The viewer is invited to enter a world of reminiscences, remembering, happenings and places.

Andrea has exhibited widely, both internationally and at home in Australia. Her work is held in both international and national collections. She holds a BA in Fine Arts with Honours and works as a Gallery Manager for Yarra Sculpture Gallery and an Art Mentor for Arts Access Victoria.
