Black Diasporas

  • North West Melbourne Precinct Association 99 Shiel Street North Melbourne, VIC, 3051 Australia (map)

There are over 50,000 people of African heritage living in Naarm/Melbourne. The Black Diasporas display provides an opportunity to hear directly from people of African descent about their experiences of living in the city. Everything from memories of playing as a child, to the mundaneness of catching a tram; from the joys of giving birth to the tragic effects of racial stereotyping and the loss of life.

These stories are told in their own voices through short films produced by directors of African heritage.
