Tahlia Palmer is an artist of Murri and European descent, living in Narrm / Melbourne, who explores history, identity and perception. She works to interrogate the impact of colonisation on people and Country, and to unpack and heal inter-generational trauma in her own family.
For the past three months she has been undertaking a residency at the State Archives, researching historical land and water management records. The result is 'occupation studies', an exhibition of audio-visual works taking over the third floor of the Victorian Archives Centre. Utilising archival footage, field recordings and AI-generated imagery, Palmer's hypnotic video pieces invite us to reflect on our own relationship with history and challenge us to take steps towards change.
This launch event is free but please register.
